The Palawan Sangguniang Panlalawigan has passed a resolution urging the local government units to strengthen their measures for the safety and protection of women.
Board Member Marivic Roxas authored the said resolution which was approves during the council’s 133rd session.
The approval of the said resolution coincides with the celebration of Women’s Month this March.
“Women play significant roles in our society. Hence, they should be protected and empowered. With some recent happenings in our country involving crimes committed against women, subjected to abuses, raped and brutally murdered, these must be prevented in our province and the conduct of Safety Awareness Programs for our women will help prevent these unfortunate events and at the same time empower them to protect themselves and their families against these circumstances,” said Board Member Roxas.
Roxas said that LGUs should conduct Safety Awareness Programs in order to empower women against abuses.
