DENR execs face Palawan SP to report on ongoing clean-up drives

Officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources faced the members of the Palawan Sangguniang Panlalawigan to report about the Clean Up Drive in various tourist spots in the province.

The DENR delegates were led by City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Felizardo B. Cayatoc who previously served as Provincial Environment Officer.

Also in attendance were Johnny Lilang of the DENR-PENRO, Raul Maximo, Project Manager of PCSDS and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Raffy Cabate of El Nido.

“[M]ay kabuoang 475 na Commercial Establishments ang naimbentaryo ng Task Force kung saan 289 ay nasa Bayan ng El Nido at 253 ang nakitaan nila ng paglabag sa mga umiiral na batas pangkapaligiran gayundin ang 184 na establisyemento na nasa bayan ng Coron na kung saan 151 sa mga ito ang nakitaan na may paglabag sa umiiral na batas sa bansa. Aming pinadalhan ng notice of violations ang mga nagmamay-ari ng mga gusaling may paglabag at 335 sa mga ito ang nakapag-comply na sa kanilang violations,” Cayatoc said.

It was also showed that a total of 285 commercial establishments and 314 households in El Nido were found to have violated the Encroachment of Easement and Timberland.

Meanwhile, 754 commercial establishments and 889 households in Coron have the same violation.

“Sa kanilang pag-imbentaryo at pagsusuri sa Barangay Port Barton ay knailang nakita na 23 commercial establishments at 53 na kabahayan ang nakitang may paglabag,” the province said.

“Kaugnay ng mga paglabag na ito, ang DENR ay nag-isyu ng 761 notice to vacate sa mga nagmamay-ari ng mga istrukturang nabanggit at ayon sa ulat, may 90 na istruktura na ang giniba at 70 na kabahayan ang narelocate sa kasalukuyan sa bayan ng Coron,” it added.
