Creation of ICT Council in Palawan pushed
The Capitol’s E-Governance Office is pushing for the creation of Palawan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Council.
The said proposal, backed by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Albert Rama, aims to strengthen the programs of Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez under ICT and innovation development of the province.
“Base sa Provisional Ordinance No. 2073, ang ICT Council ay ang magiging policy making body para sa ICT at innovation development sa Palawan,” said the provincial government.
“Ito rin ang gagawa ng implementing rules and regulations, roadmap at mga plano para sa ICT; magbibigay ng insentibo para sa digital innovations at teknolohiya; gagawa ng mga plano at programa para sa ICT literacy; maghihikayat sa Local Government Units sa pagtatag ng e-government; at magbubuo ng incentive systems at estratehiya para makapaghikayat ng mga mamumuhunan para sa ilang ICT-related industries na makakatulong sa pagpapaunlad ng pamumuhay ng mga Palaweño,” it added.
The said ICT Council will be composed by Gov. Alvarez at Vice Gov. Dennis Socrates, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Provincial Director ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), chairperson of Committee on Information and Technology sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan, president of League of Municipalities in the province, Department of Education, representatives from Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), telephone companies, Palaweño Information and Communications Technology Association (PICTA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), youth sector, as well ass Indigenous People’s Representative.
The consultative meeting for the said proposal is slated on Monday, January 15.
