Iba pag balae ni Diokno: Sorsogon gets P10B DPWH insertions in 2018, P6B in 2019 – Andaya
Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. is claiming that marital ties between Budget Secretary Ben Diokno and Sorsogon’s Hamor political clan has led to a P16 public works bonanza for the Bicol province.
“Itong kasalukuyang taon eh champion ang Sorsogon. P10-Billion ang bumagsak doon. At hindi pa nakuntento, P6-Billion naman ang nasa budget na nakapapaloob doon sa minamadali na gusto niyang ipasa muli ng agaran,” said Andaya in a press conference.
During last week’s Question Hour in the Congress deliberations on the 2019 budget, Andaya said Diokno himself admitted that Sorsogon Vice Governor Ester Hamor and husband Casiguran Mayor Edwin Hamor were his balae or the in-laws of his daughter (her husband Jojo Sicat is the son of Edwin). Ester is running for mayor of Sorsogon City in 2019, while her husband is seeking reelection.
Andaya also uncovered how Diokno’s balaes were linked to CT Leoncio Construction and Trading, the controversial contractor which the House has subpoenaed to explain how it was able to corners billions in government contracts despite being a mere sole proprietorship and zero track record before the Duterte administration.
Andaya rejected Diokno’s claims that he never discusssed DPWH insertions with his daughter’s in-laws. “Ako close ako sa pamilya ko, kahit na mga biyenan ko close kami. Hindi naman siguro…siguro yun pagtakbo sa isang puwesto tulad ng alkalde kahit siguro text napapagusapan yan. Imposible. Siguro yung pagtakbo sa isang posisyon tulad ng alkalde siguro kahit siguro text napag-uusapan yan,” said Andaya.
