Oriental Mindoro Gov. Umali leads send off ceremony for drug surrenderees who finish rehab program
Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. spearheaded the send off ceremony of the 142 drug surenderees who successfully finished their rehabilitation program.
The said graduates belong to third batch of surrenderees who have undergone rehab program in Oriental Mindoro Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (OMRRC).
Also present during the send off ceremony were officials from Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The drug surenderees underwent six (6) months of Matrix Intensive Out-Patient Program (MIOPP) of OMRRC.
“Matatandaang ang OMRRC ay naitayo sa pamamagitan ng malaking inisyatiba ni Gobernador Alfonso V. Umali, Jr. bilang pagtalima sa kampanya laban sa droga ni Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte,” said the provincial government.
Umali congratulated the surrenderees as he bared the plans of giving them sustainable livelihood development training through Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
“Plano naming i- tie up kayo sa TESDA,” said the Governor.
“Ang importante ay muling makakabangon kayo. Isipin nyong hindi kayo magiging pahirap sa gobyerno manapa’y katuwang kayo ng pamahalaan para magtaguyod ng magagandang programa. Maging ehemplo kayo ng inyong kapwa at pilitin nyong bumangon dahil sa pagbangon nyo iba na kayo, mga produktibong Mindoreno,” he added.
Also in attendance during the ceremony were Provincial Health Officer Dr. Normando Legazpi, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Norine G. Dacula and Special Assistant for Health Concerns Dr. Linda Umali.
