Catanduanes bags awards for its health programs, initiatives
Catanduanes province just recently bagged recognition for its health programs and initiatives during the 9th Salud Bikolnon Awards last December 7.
Catanduanes took home its second consecutive Magayagaya Award during the ceremony held at the Legazpi City Convention Center.
Aside from bagging the Magayagaya Award, the province also received the Purple Ribbon Award for Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH).
It was hailed as the 3rd best implementer of the said health program, Rabies-Free Zone/Area Award alongside the eleven municipalities, and Best Mental Health Program Implementation Award.
Municipal local government units (LGUs), district hospitals, health personnel and rural health units (RHUs) of the province also bagged several awards
According to the province, Bagamanoc town was awarded 4th place of Green Achiever Award and 3rd best implementer of Purple Ribbon Award for RPRH, and received P100,000 and P300,000 for both awards.
Meanwhile, Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital in San Andres received the Red Orchid Award plus P150,000 incentive.
Governor Joseph Cua, in his acceptance speech, thanked all the health workers and barangay and municipal local government units for their efforts and services.
“This award is like a water or a bar of chocolate to a mountain climber. This is an extra push, an extra energy that will booster our commitment in the vision of a Healthy People of a Healthy Island,” he said.
“This is our second consecutive Magayagaya Awards, and we intend to not stop,” he added.
“We are not yet on the peak of our climb, but we are getting there. We will continue to climb carrying with us the hope for a healthier province.”
