VG Socrates says splitting Palawan into 3 provinces ‘timely’
Vice Governor Victorino Dennis Socrates said that the proposed division of Palawan into three provinces is “timely.”
In a media forum, the Vice Governor thrown his support to House Bill 8055 which seeks to split Palawan into three provinces.
“For me it is timely,” VG Socrates said during the forum.
He added that past leaderships of Palawan also wanted to divide the province because it has a vast territory and it somehow hinders the development of other areas.
Under the proposal the province will be divided into Palawan del Norte, Palawan Oriental and Palawan del Sur.
“Dagdag pa ng bise-gobernador na hindi pinaghahati-hati at pinaghihiwalay ang Palawan sa pagsusulong ng naturang batas, na siyang inaakusa ng mga kumokontra rito, bagkus ay nagdadagdag lamang ng mga administrador para sa mas epektibong pamamahala,” said the provincial government.
Meanwhile Board Member Winston Arzaga supported Socrates’ statements.
He said that the bill seeks to “restructure” the province so that its resources could be distributed well.
“What we are doing is to simply restructure the administrative machinery so that these machineries can be more focus and better … and can be more relevant to the needs of our constituents,” said Board Member Arzaga.
The said forum was organized by the Provincial Information Office (PIO).
