VAW-free community starts with me! Albay holds women’s mental health talk, poster making contest
The Albay Capitol has conducted a Talk on Women’s Mental Health and on-the-spot poster making competition.
The said activities were led by the Provincial Committee on Anti-trafficking and Violence against Women and Children (PCAT-VAWC) and the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC).
“As part of the 18 Day Campaign to End Violence against Women (VAW) 2018, the Provincial Committee on Anti-trafficking and Violence against Women and Children (PCAT-VAWC) and the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) lectured on Women’s Mental Health, today November 29, at the Albay Astrodome,” the Provincial government said.
Contestants from different schools across the province joined the poster making competition with the theme, “VAW-free community starts with me”.
Provincial Administrator Engr. Vida Maria Corazon Prollamante said in her opening remarks that the Provincial Government of Albay recognizes the value of women.
“Ang mga nanay ay ilaw ng tahanan. Women are strong and we are very very strong,” she underscored.
Meanwhile, 3rd District Board Member and PCAT-VAWC Co-Chair Hon. Eva Josephine Ribaya said that the lecture was “one of the most significant lectures in life”.
“Not just because I’m a woman, but also the challenges that women encounter,” Ribaya was quoted as saying.
The talk on women’s health was presented by Mental Health Officer Dr. Marie Angelli Morico of BRTTH.
