Salamat sa suporta! Former IP scholars visit Oriental Mindoro Gov. Umali
Former Indigenous Peoples (IP) scholars of the Oriental Mindoro provincial government who are now successful professionals have paid a courtesy visit to Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr.
The former scholars visited Umali to personally thank him for the support and opportunity he gave for them.
“Sa pagbisita ng mga dating IP scholars ng Kapitolyo at ngayo’y mga propesyunal na katutubong Mangyan sa tanggapan ni Gobernador Alfonso V. Umali Jr., nagpasalamat ang mga ito sa naging malaking suportang ipinagkaloob ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa kanilang grupo na nagbigay daan upang sila ay maging matagumpay sa buhay, said the provincial government.
The said scholars were former members of the Indigenous People (IP) Scholars’ Organization (IPSO), organized by former Statistician I Lolita Perez ng Provincial Planning and Development Office.
Madam Perez said that she wanted the members of Mangyan tribe to finish their studies and become professionals.
“Nagsimula po ang pag-alalay ko sa mga katutubong Mangyan noong maging Community Affairs Assistant ako sa Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at ma-assign sa mga katutubo. They need somebody to help. Napamahal na sila sa akin kaya ginagawa ko ito.” Masaya akong maglilingkod sa kanila, at masaya rin naman sila sa akin”, Madam Perez was quoted as saying.
Those who visited Umali were Mr. Danilo L. Tupaz a Tayawan-Hanunuo from Pola town, Ms. Mary Grace Lantoy, registered nurse and a Hanunuo Mangyan, Ms. Caren Kristy Mahaguay who finished Custom from Tadyawan tribe, PO2 Alvin Ramos Atilano from Tadyawan tribe in Pola, Ms. Shiela Marie Delos Santos, a teacher and presidents of IPSO and Ms. Aiza Ingayan a Registered Nurse mula sa from Hanunuo-Tadyawan tribe in Mansalay town.
