Romblon bags award from Al Gore-founded organization for embracing renewable energy
The Romblon provincial government has bagged an award for embracing renewable energy.
“The Provincial Government of Romblon was chosen to receive the prestigious ALLEN S. QUIMPO CLIMATE LEADERSHIP FOR GOVERNANCE MEMORIAL AWARD,” Governor Lolong Firmalo announced.
He said that such award is “given to local government units in the Philippines who are committed to embracing renewable energy and are hosting Renewable Energy Plants/Farms.”
Firmalo said that the Climate Reality Project Philippines and its Filipino Climate Reality Leaders recognized outstanding Filipino individuals, organizations, networks, and initiatives who have been “catalyzing global solutions to the climate crisis by making urgent action a necessity across every level of society.”
“This year’s Climate Reality Leadership Awards also opened its doors to recognize the important role of local government units and its leaders who have been an integral part in redefining the Philippines’ energy sector through embracing renewable energy and commitment to promote climate justice, ecological integrity, and sustainable development,” he said.
According to the governor, Climate Reality Project is a non-profit organization founded by Nobel Laureate and former United States of America Vice-President Al Gore.
