Ex-CamSur mayor dies in road accident
NAGA CITY — A former mayor of Milaor, Camarines Sur, who is running for the Sangguniang Bayan of the same town, was killed in a road mishap in Barangay F. Simeon, Ragay, Camarines Sur, at around 1 a.m. Monday.
Andre Hidalgo, 65, also served as former vice mayor of Milaor.
At the time of the accident, he was on board a Toyota Fortuner driven by Noel Caceres, along with incumbent Vice Mayor Senen Bermas, and one Vicente Claro, investigation showed.
The group was heading back to Milaor from Manila when their vehicle skidded due to slippery road and crashed into a tree.
Hidalgo was seated behind the driver and was not wearing a seatbelt, investigation also revealed.
Bermas, Claro, and their driver suffered injuries and are presently receiving treatment at a hospital here.
Meanwhile, the Milaor municipal government announced that it would fly its flag at half-mast due to the passing of its former mayor.
Hidalgo, who filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor last week, is survived by his wife, Josephine S. Hidalgo — who is a former village chief — and their six children. (PNA)
