Dato Arroyo is Andaya’s campaign manager in CamSur gubernatorial bid

Former Camarines Sur second district Rep. Dato Arroyo threw his all out support behind the gubernatorial bid of House Majority Leader Rolando “Nonoy” Andaya Jr. in their home province.
Arroyo, son of former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, was present during Andaya’s filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) at the local COMELEC office in Pili town last Tuesday.
The former legislator said he will not seek any elective position during next year’s polls, and instead will help campaign for Andaya.
Arroyo said he will be Andaya’s campaign manager.
Andaya Jr. on Tuesday formally left the ruling administration party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) after filing his candidacy as governor of Camarines Sur under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
The House official reportedly bolted the ruling party since his main rival, incumbent Governor Luis Miguel “Migs” Villafuerte is the PDP Laban provincial chairman in Camarines Sur.
Villafuerte’s father, incumbent second district Rep. Luis Raymund “L-Ray” Villafuerte is a staunch political nemesis of Andaya.
Aside from the Arroyos, Andaya’s candidacy is also being supported by Vice President Leni Robredo.
Robredo’s late husband, former Interior Secretary and Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo was also a political foe of the Villafuertes.
