Rep. Batocabe leads groundbreaking of P750M Bicol University DRRM center
Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe has led the groundbreaking of the P750 million Bicol University Convention and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center.
Special Assistant to the President and Senatorial aspirant Bong Go served as the guest of honor during the event.
Batocabe said that he “conceptualized” and “initiated” the project in cooperation with BU Pres. Mascarinas.
The solon said that it is the “first and largest of its kind in the entire country.”
“Upon completion, the complex will have a floor area of 16,000 square meters which can accomodate a maximum of 10,000 delegates and in times of disasters can house at least 7,000 evacuees,” said Batocabe.
“It will host research facilities for climate change, DRRM offices , disaster Control center with state- of- the- art communication facilities.”
The project is strategically located in Daraga and it will be connected directly to the Bicol International Airport “which is now undergoing construction.”
Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara and Rep. Joey Salceda also attended the groundbreaking.
