Transparency! Masbate VG Revil organizes forum on freedom of information featuring PCOO execs
Through the efforts of Vice Governor Kaye Revil, a public forum for consultation and dialogue on Freedom of Information, featuring guests speakers from the Presidential Communications Operations Office, was held in Masbate.
Under the leadership of VG Revil, the Masbate Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed an FOI ordinance – the first of its kind in Bicol Region and the third in the Philippines.
“As the sponsor/author of this FOI Ordinance, your VG Kaye Revil organized a Public Forum for consultation & dialogue for the same with guest speaker Asec. Atty. Kris Ablan & team Dir. Kahlil Macan, Joan Antonio & Mushi Manza of the PCOO Freedom of Information Department of Malacañan,” the Vice Governor said.
“As we enabled this space for public participation & information, we are grateful for all the national agencies, local government units, schools, ngos, the provincial government heads & reps & other stakeholders who joined our advocacy & made this meaningful event a success,” she added.
Revil also noted that an FOI ordinance will be addee as an additional criteria for the Seal of Good Local Governance award for the Interior and Local department.
“For everyone’s guidance too, passage of the FOI Ordinance will be an additional criteria which will be released by the DILG come October for securing of the Seal of Good Local Governance for 2019. Well, proud that we are among the pioneers,” she said.
Revil said that the passage of the FOI ordinance will show the transparent governance in Masbate province.
“Masbate, this significant local legislation made possible with the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SPs Dennis Placer, Jamon Espares, Lovely Abapo, Teddy Danao, Bok Barsaga, Randy Vasquez, ABC Rigel Sanchez, SK Talisic & yours truly your VG as Author/Sponsor) shall pave the way for a more transparent & trustworthy government. This is our legacy. To God be the glory,” said Revil.
