Albay Vice Gov. Harold Ong Imperial lauds few brave souls who attended hearing on quarrying ops
Not even a near empty session hall could deter the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Albay from tackling important issues related to quarrying in the province.
In a Facebook post, Albay Vice Gov. Harold Ong Imperial said he had sent out invitations for the hearing in aid of legislation to discuss complaints about quarrying operations in Albay and come up with a new ordinance to put in new rules.
But only he and Board Members Pem Imperial, Raul Rosal, and Jesus Go showed up, he said.
Nevertheless, he was glad that brave resource persons came out to share their experiences and opinions, on matters raised by the provincial officials.
Another hearing will be set, he said.
Who will be brave enough to attend it?
“With the almost empty Session Hall, despite the invitations sent out last week, the honorable members of the 12th SPA present, VG HOI, BMs Pem Imperial, Raul Rosal, and Jesus Go, did not lose faith that there will be brave individuals who are willing to come out and speak their truth in this legislative investigation in aid of legislation. The hearing was called for to shed light on unverified issues and complaints on the quarrying operations in Albay with the hope of making the necessary changes to ensure a clear, direct, and fair ordinance and its proper and faithful implementation by those tasked for the job. A few brave individuals who have been directly affected by said issues bravely shared their experiences and opinions on every point raised by the Presiding Officer and Board Members present. With too many controversial issues to consider and check for their veracity, the committee will have another hearing set next week to be announced soon,” Imperial posted.
