Viva La Virgen! Mayor Bongat says Traslacion 2018 shows Nagueños undying devotion to Mama Mary
Naga City Mayor John Bongat said that the Traslacion 2018 proved the “undying and impassioned” devotion of Nagueños to Mama Mary.
Thousands of Bicolanos joined the Traslacion yesterday of the Our Lady of Peñafrancia, the patron of the City.
Bongat shared photos of the event on his Facebook account showing the devotion of Nagueños to the “Ina.”
“IF THIS IS NOT A CLEAR PICTURE OF A HOTBED, then what is this? Indeed, yesterday’s #PeňafranciaTraslacion2018 proved once again the undying and impassioned Bicolano devotion to Mama Mary, our “Ina,” whose nativity, incidentally, is being commemorated today!,” the Mayor said.
“Happy birthday Ina as we, your children, implore thy intercession to keep us as strong as our devotion to thee! We need thee to keep us closer to thy Son, Jesus Christ, Savior of humankind!,” he added.
Mayor Bongat skipped this year’s Traslacion as he attended a forum on migration in South Africa.
The mayor was invited by the UNESCO to be a panelist in the said forum.
