Masbate bacame the third province in the country to have institutionalized the freedom of information measure, Vice Governor Kaye Revil said.
Under her watch, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan unanimously approved the Freedom of Information ordinance in Masbate province.
“Very Good news #Masbateños! Revil emphasized the paramount right of the people to be informed on public concerns as enshrined in the 1987 Constitution.
“The right of the people to information on matters of public concern is guaranteed no less than in our Constitution,” Revil said.
“In all transactions involving public interest, a policy of full public disclosure, subject to reasonable conditions prescribed by law is adopted & meant to be implemented,” she added.
The Vice Governor also said that the “significant” legislation would give a brand new light that in Masbate, public officials are “serious about change & good governance.”
