Incompetent daw? VP Leni lets Jesse speak for her

Vice President Leni Robredo took the high road anew amid the remarks of President Rodrigo Duterte that she is incompetent to succeed him.

Instead of reacting to the statements, the Vice President just let her husband Jesse do the talking by posting an old interview of the former Naga City Mayor and secretary of Interior and Local government department.

In a speech at a gathering of the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas last Tuesday, Duterte said Vice President Robredo is incompetent to succeed him.

“Hindi ako nakikipag-away ng babae. Hindi nga ako sumasagot kung ano ang sinasabi nila. But sinabi ko, I think deep in my heart, if you follow the succession and Robredo takes over, hindi niya kaya. Mas mag lalo … Hindi niya kaya, that’s my honest opinion ko lang,” he said.

For her part, Leni said that she would let Jesse speak for her as they commemorate her late husband’s 6th death anniversary on Aug. 18.

“Received so many messages today asking me to react or defend myself. Since we’re commemorating his 6th death anniversary on Saturday, will let him do the talking. Ganyan din naman sagot ko,” Robredo said.

In the said video, Jesse said that in the end, it is always the good one that wins.

“Maayos naman ang hangarin mo. Gusto mo magtrabaho ng maayos. Gusto mo pang pagsipagan ito pero bakit nagkakaganito pa?,” Jesse said in the interview.

“I will not pay anyone just to build up my name, build up my image because if I do that, then I don’t believe in myself anymore,” he added.

“Ang dulo ng lahat ng bagay, ‘yung totoo mananaig. Ang dulo ng lahat ng bagay, ‘yung matino ang nananalo. That’s why, in time, I think all of this will pass. People will realize what the true picture is…. And hopefully by that time, andiyan pa rin ako,” said Jesse.
