VG Alfaro makes sure Occidental Mindoro LGUs comply with solid waste management law

Occidental Mindoro Vice Governer Peter de Jesus Alfaro met with Environment and Natural Resources Officer (ENRO) Myrna Ramos regarding the local government units’ compliance with the solid waste management law.

ENRO is the office that coordinates with local government units for their compliance with the Republic Act 9003 or the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.”

“Kaninang umaga, nagpatawag ng pulong si Vice Gov Peter de Jesus Alfaro kasama si ENRO Myrna P. Ramos hinggil sa koordinasyon ng kanyang opisina sa mga munisipyo para sa pagpapatupad ng R.A. 9003 o ang “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,” said the provincial government.

Ramos said that she has already coordinated with League of Municipal Mayors in the province to urge them to fast-track the passage of their respective Solid Waste Management Ordinances and its implementation.

“Sa kasalukuyan, limang(5) munisipyo pa lamang ang mayroong Solid Waste Management Ordinance, samantalang,ang natitirang anim (6) ay mga panukalang ng nakasalang sa kanilang Sangguniang Bayan,” said the province.

“Isinasaayos ang Provincial Ecological Solid Waste Management Board (PESWB). Ito ay pinangungunahan ni Governor at kasapi ang mga sumusunod; Congressional Representative, ENRO, Mayors, SP Member, PHO, GSO, PEO, PENRO, NGO Representative, Representative from Recycling Industry, Representative from each Gov’t Agency Processing relevant technical and marketing expertise as maybe determined by the Board,” it added.

The Vice Governor also tasked SP Secretary Jam Pangilinan-Haley to asked LGUs to submit their Municipal Solid Waste Management Plan to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that will be used as yhe basis of Provincial Solid Waste Management Plan of the board.

“Paiigtingin nito ang kampanya para sa maayos na pagbubukod bukod ng basura; Reduce, Reuse, Recycling at Composting na sya ngayong isinusulong ni Vice Gov Peter De Jesus Alfaro,” said the province.
