Albay bags commendation for providing accessible building facilities to PDWs
The Province of Albay has bagged a commendation from a non-governmental organization for its compliance with the Accessibility Law.
Governor Al Francis Bichara shared that Albay received a certificate of commendation from Simon of Cyrene.
“Complying with the Accessibility Law through government projects providing accessible building facilities to Persons With Disabilities, the Provincial Government of Albay received a certificate of commendation from Simon of Cyrene,” said Governor Bichara.
According to the Governor, Simon of Cyrene is a non-stock, non-profit organization, which aims to empower Persons With Disabilities “to improve quality of life and become proactive members of society by expanding the network of sustainable Community-Based Programs and facilities in the Bicol Region and nationwide.”
According to the certificate, Albay “has shown a strong commitment to comply with the Accessibility Law (BP 344) and provide for accessible building facilities for its clients…”
The inter-agecy access audit was conducted in July 20, 2017.
“The selection went through a process composed of an inter-agency access audit team who surveyed local government units who are complying with the said law,” said Bichara.
