VG Alfaro meets with San Jose artists association for potential art promotion in Occidental Mindoro
Occidental Mindoro Vice Governor Peter J Alfaro meets the officers of Gintong Tamaraw Artists Association of San Jose for the “potential promotion of arts” in the province.
The meeting was organized by Michelle Festin, Municipal Tourism Officer San Jose town.
Leonardo Gabutero, Chairman of Kalikasan Mindoro Foundation and Dr. Arnulfo Villanueva, a Professor of Occidental Mindoro State College and Director of Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, “provide some insights on socio-cultural and historical background and potentials of the promotion of arts in the province.”
The provincial government said that the GTA is vying for a grant from the National Commission on Culture and Arts.
According to the province, Gabutero “envisions promoting Culture and Arts through the local thriving artists and showcasing their works as pride of the province.”
“VGPJA is a environmental advocate and has interest in visual arts. This first of a series of his talks with all the artists groups in the province,” said the province.
The Vice Governor also encourages the artists to include the Indigenous People of the province as their subjects and perhaps come up with their master pieces.
“He is looking forward to meeting the local artists of Sablayan and Calintaan and other municipalities in the future and to know their needs, how the provincial government could assist them in honing their skills and be at par with the world class artists,” it added.
