Palawan provincial gov’t distributes over P4M worth of pension for indigent senior citizens
The Palawan provincial government has so far distributed more than P4 million of pension for indigent senior citizens in the province from December 2017 to July this year.
The province said that 4,602 senior citizen have benefited from the “Local Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens,” implemented by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office or PSWDO.
“Napag-alaman mula kay Gng. Helen G. Bundal, Population Program Officer II ng PSWDO na nasa 4,602 senior citizen na ang nakatanggap ng kanilang buwang ayuda mula sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan na nagkakahalaga ng tig-P1,500 para sa mga buwan ng Hulyo hanggang Disyembre ng taong 2017. Ang kabuoang halaga na naipamahagi ay mahigit P4 milyon,” the provincial government said.
Bundal said that only beneficiaries from eight towns have been receiving their pension.
These towns are Aborlan, Quezon, San Vicente, Roxas, Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Rizal and Linapacan.
Meanwhile, senior citizen beneficiaries from other towns receive P500 from the national government, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
“Yan nalang ‘yung natitirang beneficiary natin from Provincial Government, the rest ng municipalities nasa national na. Pero hopefully, sana lahat ng mga munispyo ma-cover na ng national para mas malaki ang matanggap ng mga senior citizen natin,” said Bundal.
