Ako Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe wants to stop a new kind of addiction
It’s not only drug addicts that deserve government attention.
Ako Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe is sounding the alarm on gaming addiction as he filed a bill to regulate video games in the country.
According to Batocabe, the World Health Organization has classified gaming addiction as a form of mental disorder.
This is why there is a need to limit the kinds of video games to be made available to children, especially the extremely violent ones, he said.
Nobody wants a nation full of addicts, he added.
Let’s just hope there won’t be any tokhang for this!
“Filed HB NO. 7909, regulating video games by establishing a video game content rating and classification system considering that the World Health Organization has classified gaming addiction as a form of mental disorder. Dapat malimitahan natin ang paglaro ng kung ano- anong video games especially those extremely violent games to our children.. Certainly, we don’t want to have a nation full of addicts,” Batocabe said in a Facebook post.
