Inclusive! Naga City kicks off job fair for PWDs
Naga City Mayor John Bongat is inviting persons with disability (PWDs) to take the opportunity to find a work in a job fair intended particularly for them.
Mayor Bongat said that being a PWD is never a disadvantage as his administration seeks “inclusive” opportunity for all.
“PWD ka ba? Tara na! Trabaho na! BEING A PWD IS NOT A DISADVANTAGE as the City’s Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) headed by Mr. Christopher Molin, the MetroPESO headed by Mr. Reuel Oliver, MNCCI headed by Mr. Ferdinand Sia, DOLE and the NCPWD Fed. have joined forces in holding the first ever PWD Job Fair today at SM City Naga,” Mayor Bongat said.
The opening of thr job fair was also graced by Vice Mayor Nelson Legacion and SP PWD Chair Elmer S. Baldemoro, the “innovative activity’s main proponent.”
The Naga City dedicated the whole month of July for PWDs as the city prepared “various activities that will help to uplift their lives.”
The city previously celebrated PWD week, but the Sangguniang Panlungsod has enacted the Ordinance No. 2018-028, which declared the month of July as Persons with Disability Month.
“The measure is in conformity with Proclamation No. 361 issues by then President Joseph Estrada, which proclaimed every third week of July as the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week,” the city said
Councilor Elmer Baldemoro said that they decided to extend the celebration to promote the welfare of the PWD sector in the city.
“We decided to extend the weeklong national celebration into a whole month of activities that are fun-filled and productive to be able to promote well the things that can help improve the quality of life of the members of the sector,” Baldemoro, who sponsored the ordinance, was quoted as saying.
