Puerto Princesa Mayor Bayron, Capitol officials lead Palawan’s Independence Day celebration

The Provincial Government of Palawan has actively participated in the 120th Independece Day led by Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron and other ranking officials of the Capitol.

“Ang taunang paggunita sa Araw ng Kalayaan ay nagsimula sa pamamagitan ng pagdaraos ng isang misa ng pasasalamat sa Katedral ng Immaculada Concepcion na sinundan ng pagtataas ng bandila ng Pilipinas sa Liwasang Rizal at ng pag-aalay ng mga bulaklak sa bantayog ni Gat Jose P. Rizal,” the provincial government said.

The ceremony was led by Puerto Princesa City Mayor Bayron, Commander Lt. Gen. Rozanno D. Briguez of the Western Command, and Atty. Gil A. Acosta, Jr., Provincial Information Officer of the provincial government, representing Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez and 3rd District Rep. Gil P. Acosta.

A wreath laying ceremony followed by a parade from Liwasang Rizal to Liwasang Mendoza was held. It was attended by the employees of the Capitol and the local government of Puerto Princesa? As well as the staff of the National Government Agencies (NGAs) such as Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), among others.

Several personalities also offered flowers to the monument of Dr. Higinio Mendoza, a Palawan hero.

“Nag-alay rin ng bulaklak ang mga pangunahing personalidad na lumahok sa parada sa bantayog ni Dr. Higinio Mendoza na kinikilala bilang lokal na bayani ng lalawigan ng Palawan,” said the province.

After the parade, Mayor Bayron, Lt. Gen. Briguez, Atty. Acosta, amd Dr. Elsie T. Barrios, Division Superintendent of Division of City Schools, gave their respective Independence Day message.

“Sa kani-kanilang mensahe ay binigyang diin ng mga panauhin ang kahalagahan ng pagkilala sa mga bayaning nagbuwis ng buhay upang matamasa ng mga susunod pang henerasyon ang kalayaang tinatamasa ng mga Pilipino ngayon,” said the provincial government.
