Mayor Bongat welcomes Filipino table tennis sensation Aljay Villena in Naga

Naga City Mayor John Bongat has welcomed the 11-year-old Filipino table tennis sensation Aljay Villena in his city.

According to Mayor Bongat, Villena landed in the Top 32 Best Players of the World in the recent London International Table Tennis Championships.

“WITH 11-Year old Filipino table tennis sensation Aljay Villena who landed in the Top 32 Best Players of the World in the recent London International Table Tennis Championships, the youngest player to have made the cut,” said Mayor Bongat.

The mayor said that Villena will serve as an inspiration for other aspiring athletes with his achievements tucked under his belt.

“Pitted against the world’s best and more experienced players, Aljay’s sports achievement will definitely serve as inspiration to budding, young Filipino athletes to believe in themselves and that against all odds, yes, the Filipino can!,” said Mayor Bongat.

According to Bongat, Villegas visited Naga as part of the preparation of the city’s hosting of Second ASEAN Junior Table Tennis Championship this July.

“He visited Naga, together with Philippine Table Tennis Officials, to finalize preparations for NAGA’S HOSTING OF THE SECOND ASEAN JUNIOR TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS happening this first week of July, 2018 at Robinsons Place Naga,” said Mayor Bongat.
