Gov. Umali, DOST Sec. Dela Peña lead groundbreaking of low-cost water treatment projects in Oriental Mindoro
Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali Jr. and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato dela Peña led the groundbreaking of a low-cost water treatment projects in the province.
The two officials were joined by DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Director Dr. Nenette Abilay for the groundbreaking ceremonies yesterday in Gloria town.
The Engineered Bamboo and low-cost and nature-based Wastewater Treatment Projects were joint projects of the Gloria local government and the provincial government of Oriental Mindoro.
“DOST Sec. Fortunato ‘Boy’ dela Pena once again visits Oriental Mindoro with DOST-MIMAROPA RD Dr. Nenette Abilay to grace the Groundbreaking Ceremonies of the Engineered Bamboo and low-cost and nature-based Wastewater Treatment Projects in Gloria town (joint projects with PGOrM and LGU-Gloria),” said the Governor.
“The DOST chief was also able to attend the R&D Forum for Biya (White Goby) of Naujan Lake (initiated by Dost-Oriental Mindoro with PGOrM-PAgO, MinSCAT, CLSU, other NGAs, LGUs, and stakeholders),” he added.
“Aside from his busy sched, he was also able to set foot on 2 SETUP-assisted projects: Bahag Footwear (innovative sandals making in Pinamalayan) and Magma Fiberglass (boat fabrication in Calapan City),” Umali also said.
The governor thanked their partners for making the project possible.
“We thank our partners for these notable activities being supported by the DOST Secretary for the Mindorenos!,” said tje governor.
