Masbate City officials undergo disaster response training from OCD

In line with the goal to achieve a Seal of Kalasag, the Masbate City government has held an Incident Command System Executive Course Training.

The said training was spearheaded by the Office of the Civil Defense Region-V last May 10.

“Training for heads of offices in Masbate City LGU and other heads from other Government line agencies, for standardization of a command system for disaster response,” the city government said.

For her part, Masbate City mayor Rowena Tuason thanked the OCD for the “informative training” attended by the city government’s decision makers and technical staff.

“Disasters do happen anytime and anywhere. Better be prepared always,” said Tuason.

“Thanks Office of Civil Defence V for this very informative training,” she added.

Tuason also said that the city’s goal is to have zero casualty in times of calamity. It is also geared towards “Seal of Kalasag.

According to the OCD, the Gawad KALASAG is the country’s annual awards for outstanding contribution in the fields of disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance.

“It is the principal mechanism by which the NDRRMC advances awareness of the best practices of DRRM and humanitarian response and action. Moreover, it aims to appreciate individuals, groups or institutions which have shown extraordinary courage, heroism and sacrifice in times of emergencies, be it natural or human-induced,” the OCD said.
