The Ako-Bicol party-list has commended the efforts of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Catanduanes, the Virac Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) for the successful apprehension of two persons involved in the illegal transportation of logs last April 30.

The successful apprehension led to the seizure of a a ten-wheeler dump truck containing sawn lumbers in different sizes at Barangay Gogon, Virac, Catanduanes on March 13, 2018.

“The said operation resulted in the arrest of Elmer M. Morauda III, and Marvin S. Soria, who both pleaded guilty on March 16, 2018 on the charges of violation of Section 68, Presidential Decree 705, or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines,” the party list said.

AKB Representatives Rodel M. Batocabe, Christopher S. Co and Alfredo A. Garbin led the awarding activity.

“This recognition seeks to uplift the morale of our law enforcers. Their actions that lead to the good of the people and of the community are truly commendable,” Batocabe said in a statement.

Moreover, a tree-planting activity inside the said camp will ensued to be led by the Cantanduanes’ various government offices and non-government organizations, in light of the celebration of National Earth Month.

“We initiated this tree-planting activity and have invited Catandunganons to participate because we believe this will promote and inculcate the importance of trees in our surroundings. We should not cut down trees. We should, instead, strive to proliferate its numbers. If we take trees for granted, the negative effects will boomerang to us – people,” Batocabe said.
