Masbate City offers summer jobs to students deserving for employment
The City of Masbate has started its summer job program for students deserving for an employment while they are on a school break.
The city employed 30 students for 20 days, or effectively one month so that they could earn during summer break.
The said summer job is under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), which encourages “poor but deserving students for employment during breaks.”
The SPES was done with the help of the Labor department.
“The City Government of Masbate in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is conducting a program wherein the City LGU pledged to employ 30 students during this summer break,” the city said.
For the duration of the program, the student can earn more than P8,000.
“The program will last for 20 days or one month of employment at a rate of ₱406.09 per day, for these deserving students,” said the city.
The Naga City earlier implemented similar summer job program, employing 330 students at the City Office.
