Several bus firms seek Oriental Mindoro provincial board’s approval to operate in the province

Several bus firms have expressed interest to operate in Occidental Mindoro to further help the province in its transportation woes following the fatal accident involving Dimple Star Bus.

During the session today of the Provincial Board, several bus firm and transport group submitted resolution showing their intent to bring services to Mindoreños.

Among those who showed interest was the Roro Bus, which is currently on the process of acquiring 40 new buses

“[A]ng twenty (20) units ay para sa rutang San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to Manila via Abra de Ilog and Calapan City and vice versa at ang twenty (20) units ay para sa local operation Abra de Ilog- San Jose-Calapan City at vice versa…,” said the province.

SP Member Ernesto Jaravata, Chairman, Local Government, backed the resolution of Roro Bus.

“Ang Partas Transportation Company, Inc ay kabilang din sa nagsumite ng intensyon na makapagserbisyo dahil sa tumataas na demand ng pampublikong sakayan sa lahat ng munisipyo sa buong lalawigan na iminungkahi din ni Bokal Jaravata,” said.the province.

“Gayundin ang Southern Mindoro Transport Cooperative ( SOMITRACO) na humiling din na makapagbigay ng serbisyo sa mga mananakay na iminungkahi ni SP Member Damaso G. Abeleda II, miyembro ng Komite ng Transportasyon at Chairman ng Agriculture na sinusugan din ng lahat ng miyembro ng Sanggunian,” said the province.

“Iminungkahi ni SP Member Lope C. Asilo, Chairman, Social Services na maging isang resolusyon ang hiling ng JARIV Transport Cooperative upang maging Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) sa lalawigan. Ang hiling ng West Mindoro Transport Service Association, Inc ay iminungkahi din ni Bokal Jaravata upang makapagserbisyo sa mga mananakay sa bayang ng Paluan,” it also said.

Meanwhile, Last April 6, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sent a letter to Gov Gene J. Mendiola regarding the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) under the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 001, series of 2017 of the government and DILG-DOTr.

Under the program, the local governments are mandated to draft the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LTPRP).

The schedule of capacity building training in Oriental at Occidental Mindoro will be held on April 23-27, 2018 (Session 1) and May 21-25, 2018 ( Session 2).
