Ayaw tumigil! Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali continues to call for support for postponement of bgy polls
Not even President Duterte is openly backing calls for the postponement of barangay elections in May, but his ally, Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, is still pushing the idea.
Umali made his pitch for the postponement of the polls when he spoke before thousands of new members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan in Bulacan.
He said he was happy that many of them actually support his call. The House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms also voted to approve the bill for the postponement.
Should the measure pass in the plenary, it still faces another hurdle— a reluctant Senate.
Maybe he’s better off spending his time convincing senators?
Isa itong malaking hakbang para sa ating bayan!,” he posted on Facebook.
