‘There’s no limit to the greatness of women,’ Catanduanes Gov. Cua says
There is no limit to the greatness women, so said Catanduanes Governor Joseph C. Cua during the opening program of the celebration of National Women’s Month.
The governor acknowledged the contribution of women in society and the significant role they play in different facets of life.
“I believe that there is no limit to the greatness that women can accomplish which is why I look forward to the day that every Catandunganon women is empowered,” Cua said.
Dr. Aida A. Dianela, the President of the Girl Scout of the Philippines-Catanduanes, delivered a keynote speech during the program where she shared how women changed from generation to generation.
She said that the women in the past have always been pictured as soft, sacrificing, subservient, and submissive. “The weaker sex ika nga,” she added.
But not anymore.
“Like workers in a vineyard, we will continue working and we will not stop until every bit of oil is extracted from the olives, and every drop of wine have been taken from the grapes,” she said closing her speech.
The celebration held last March 5, 2018 was spearheaded by the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) in cooperation with Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, attended by women from different line agencies and offices in the province.
Meanwhile, Provincial Board Member Vincent Villaluna, the chairman of the Committee on Women, Family, Disabled and Elderly said that the essence of being a woman “is not just being able to bear a child and bring life, it is rather about being proud of your identity and being proud of who they are as a woman of today.”
Villaluna also recognized the women in uniform and government employees who “revolutionize” the essence of a woman.
“It’s a celebration of womanhood, celebration of who you are and what defines you as a woman and that is one of the greatest things that is happening right now; how you are able to revolutionize the essence of women in our world and our society, in our province and our country,” he said.
