Palawan to spend over P140 million to rehabilitate Vinta-hit Balacbac town

The Provincial Government of Palawan will spend more than P140 million to rehabilitate th Balacbac town, one of the areas hit severely by tropical storm Vinta.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) just recently held its regular meeting headed by Palawan Vice-Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates.

During the said meeting, the details of Post of Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) in Balacbac were discussed.

“Sa naturang ulat na iprinisinta ni Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Officer-in-Charge Cruzalde B. Ablaña, nakasaad na aabot sa isangdaan at apatnapung (P140M) milyong piso ang pondong kakailanganin para sa rehabilitasyon ng 13 apektadong barangay sa bayan ng Balabac partikular sa Bgy. Mangsee na siyang pinaka-apektadong isla,” the province said.

Around P105 million will be spent for the rehabilitation and repairs of damage houses, classrooms and school equipment, and and rural health units of Balacbac and other health stations of affected barangays.

“Ang halagang tatlumpong (30) milyong piso ay gagamitin para sa pagpapalit ng mga banca at motorized launches na ginagamit sa pangingisda gayundin para sa mga seaweeds at iba pang mga pananim na pinagmumulan ng kita ng mga mamamayan sa Balabac,” the province said.

“Apat na milyong piso (P4M) naman ang kakailanganin para sa imprastraktura tulad ng barangay health centers, marine detachment, coastguard station, at electrification project ng Pamahalang Panlalawigan sa bayan ng Balabac; samantalang P300,000 naman ang para sa mga Cross Sectoral structures tulad ng Lunar Monitoring System (LMS) ng Philippine Navy at pagsasaayos ng daycare center,” it added.

The provincial government vowed to fast-track the rehabilitation of 13 barangays in Balacbac.
