Student-atlethes of Palawan have already started their trainings for the upcoming MIMAROPA Regional Athletic Association Meet to be held in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on March 12 to 16.
A total of 12 boxers will represent Palawan in the said athletic meet composed of 10 secondary students and two elementary students.
“Napag-alaman mula kay G. Sunshine R. Cabiguen, Provincial Sports Development Officer, na ang naturang isports kabilang ang sepak takraw at table tennis ay dinomina ng Palawan sa nakaraang Palarong Panrehiyon noong taong 2017,” the province said.
Cabiguen is positive that they could do a repeat thie year.
“Sa boxing may pag-asa tayo dahil may basis tayo. Several years na tayong nagchampion dyan, tayo ang may hawak ng record,” Cabiguen was quoted as saying. “Yan kasi ang tinututukan namin talaga ang boxing kasama ang takraw at table tennis.”
The training of all the Palawan delagates for the annual sports competition will last until March 1.
The student athletes are undergoing their trainings in Brooke’s Point as the Palawan provincial government eyes general championship anew.
“Last year nakuha natin both elementary and secondary. Sa tingin ko malaki ang pag-asa natin kasi ang mga manlalaro natin sa individual events ay yon pa rin, nagdagdag lang ngayon. Malalakas sila at record holder,” said Cabiguen.
The Palawan will send a total of 719 delegates in the said sports meet composed of both atlethes and officials from various local government units in the province.
