Calapan Mayor Panaligan meets with UNIDO officials for possible tie-up on transport, energy projects
Calapan City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan has met with the officials of a United Nations body to discuss possible partnership on transport planning and energy efficiency projects for Philippine cities.
Mayor Panaligan is currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia attending the World Urban Forum, where he met with the representatives from United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The meeting explored the possible partnership between UNIDO and the League of Cities of the Philippines.
“City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan met and conferred with the representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) while attending the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to explore a partnership between the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) and UNIDO in the areas of transport planning and energy efficiency projects for Philippine cities,” Panaligan’s office said.
Panaligan is the LCP’s Regional Representative for Region IV-B.
Marck Draeck, Industrial Development Officer, and Ms. Katarina Barunica, Associate Industrial Development Officer represented UNIDO during the meeting.
The said UN body is based in Vienna, Austria.
Mayor Panaligan, meanwhile, was joined by Mayor Sally Lee of Sorsogon City and Mayor Felipe Remollo of Dumaguete City.
Panaligan is a member of the delegation of the Philippine Government and the League of Cities of the Philippines to the 9th World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The forum carries the theme “Cities 2030, Cities for All: Implementing the New Urban Agenda.”
