Palawan sends team to conduct post-disaster assessment in Vinta-hit Mangsee Island

A post-disaster assessment will be conducted in Barangay Mangsee in Balacbac town located in southern part of Palawan that was severely hit by the tropical storm Vinta late last year.

A group, composed, among others,of disaster risk reduction officers of various local government units in Palawan, have recently gone to Barangay Mangsee to conduct Post Disaster Assessment and Needs Analysis (PDANA) .

“Nagtungo na kamakailan sa barangay Mangsee, bayan ng Balabac ang grupo na magsasagawa ng Post Disaster Assessment and Needs Analysis (PDANA) para sa mga pangunahing pangangailangan at rehabilitasyon ng naturang barangay matapos ang paghagupit dito ng bagyong Vinta noong ika-23 ng Disyembre, taong 2017,” thr province said.

More than a thousand houses have been damaged by tropical storm Vinta last year. The province also eperienced the wrath of tropical storm Urduja in December.

The group will focus on the rebuilding of damaged houses ans the reconstruction of electrci posts in the said barangay.

They will also provide medical mission and will check on other possible livelihood programs for the barangay to help the affected residents.

“Ilan sa mga pagtutuunan ng pansin ng PDANA ay ang konstruksyon ng mga bagong tahanan para sa mga pamilyang nawalan ng tirahan, pagsasaayos ng mga poste ng kuryente at pagbibigay ng agarang lunas at iba pang tulong medikal para sa mga residente ng barangay Mangsee,” the province said.

“Magsasagawa rin ang grupo ng pagsusuri kaugnay ng mga programang pang-agrikultura na maaaring ipatupad sa naturang barangay dahil karamihan ng mga bangka na ginagamit ng mga mangingisda ay nasira dahil sa bagyong Vinta,” it added.

The PDANA is composed of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of El Nido, Sofronio Española, Brooke’s Point and Linapacan, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and theDepartment of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWDO)-Palawan.
