Palawan disaster risk reduction office focuses on trainings to beef up calamity response efforts
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Palawan zeroed in on trainings last year to beef up its disaster response efforts.
In its accomplishment report, the PDRRMO, headed by Cruzalde B. Ablaña, underwent series of calamity response trainings to achieve a disaster resilient province as envisioned by Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez.
Among the trainings held were Standard First Aid Training, Family Evacuation Preparedness and Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Tsunami with Earthquake Drill, Integrated Planning on Integrated Command System (ICS), Water Search and Rescue (WASAR), Mountain Search and Rescue (MOSAR), Basic Life Support Training, at Psychological First Aid Training.
The PDRRMO teamed up wiyh Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office for the said trainings.
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit last October was held where MIMAROPA LDRRMOs were present.
“Sa nasabing pagtitipon ay tinalakay ang mga maaari pang gawing mga pagsasanay na angkop sa bawat lalawigan gayundin ang patungkol sa mga bagong teknolohiya na magagamit ng mga LDRRMO sa pagsisiguro ang zero casualty tuwing panahon ng sakuna,” the province said.
The Palawan province opened the year braving tropical depression Agaton. It also felt the wrath of storms Vinta and Urduja in December.
“Ayon naman kay G. Ablaña, inaasahan na magpapatuloy ang mga pagsasanay na gagawin ng kanilang tanggapan ngayong taon upang mas mapalakas pa ang pwersa ng mga responders sa lalawigan at patuloy na maging handa ang Palawan sa panahon ng sakuna,” said the province.
