To the rescue! Naga Mayor Bongat crosses floods, braves heavy rains to make sure his constituents’ safety
Not all heroes wear capes, some – just like Naga City Mayor John Bongat – brave heavy rains and cross floods to make sure that everyone is safe and sound.
Naga City experienced localized thunderstorm starting Thursday night which prompted the local government to cancel classes in all levels and suspend work in the government today.
The city said that it experienced an “unusually heavy rains reaching abnormal levels” which caused waterways to swell and brought flooding in other areas.
But the father of the city did not sit back and instead led the rescue operations the whole morning today to make sure that everyone is safe.
Photos posted by Mayor Bongat in his Facebook account showed him and other members of the local government of Naga braving the storms and crossing flooded areas.
“TO THE RESCUE the whole morning this morning, but the sun is smiling now. Thank God, every one is safe!,” said Mayor Bongat.
Meanwhile, since the weather condition in Naga City has improved, the suspension of classes and work in government today has been lifted.
Resumption of work and classes for tomorrow, January 13, is left at the discretion of schools and employers.
