In Brgy. Suqui, Calapan, drug surrenderers find new hope through peanut butter

Dec 7, 2017 @ 18:55

Who would have thought that through peanut butter, drug surrenderees from Brgy. Suqui, Calapan City are given a chance to become productive citizens anew.

The Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of Brgy. Suqui led by Chairman Richard San Agustin recently launched a livelihood program to help Tokhang surrenderees back on their feet through selling peanut butter.

Kagawad Amelita Jurado said that the proceeds from selling peanut butters are given to drug surrenderers to help their rehabilitation.

“Layunin ng naturang pangkabuhayan na matulungan ang mga drug surrenderees na sumasailalim sa rehabilitation program ng City Government of Calapan,” the City said.

According to the City, the earnings generated are also being used to fund the expenses of surrenderers such as transportation costs and other basic needs.
