Nov 30, 2017 @ 19:02

Social welfare officers and members of the municipal disaster risk reduction office in Palawan have undergone training on psychological first aid last week.

“Layon ng naturang pagsasanay na maibahagi sa mga partisipante ang kahalagahan ng pagsasagawa ng psychological first aid bilang bahagi ng pagresponde sa mga biktima ng sakuna,” the Palawan province said.

The first ever Psychological First Aid Training was attended by Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers (MSWDO) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDO) from different local government units in the province held at the Charica Inn and Suites in Puerto Princesa.

Engr. Saylito M. Purisima, who represented Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez, said that the participants should maximize everything they’ve learned during the training during response operations.

The training was led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

Regina G. de Jesus from the Philippine Mental Health Association, for her part, said that disaster victims usually experience trauma that’s why it’s important to give them psychological first aid so that they could recover faster.
