Naga City chosen as beneficiary of NRC’s disaster resilience program
The City of Naga has been chosen by the National Resilience Council (NRC) to be a beneficiary of the latter’s program on disaster resilience.
Mayor John Bongat said that the NRC has rolled out a “3-year program aimed at developing and implementing, together with the DILG, a template of indicators to ensure disaster resilience at the sub-national level.”
Bongat met with NRC Executive Director Malu Erni yesterday where Naga was formally chosen as one of the beneficiaries.
“The program will be anchored on and propelled by strong stakeholdership support,” said Bongat.
Other local government units chosen were Cagayan de Oro City, Iloilo City, Zamboanga City, Valenzuela City and Bataan Province.
Bongat said that the LGUs were choses because of their “track record of dynamic and development-focused leadership, to take the lead in transforming cities and provinces across regions into livable, disaster-resilient communities, pursuant to a set of indicators to be agreed upon by all involved and concerned stakeholders from both the government and private sectors.”
