Wag nyo na lang iboto! Former Albay solon Grex Lagman says democracy allows Mocha Uson to seek Senate seat
The Philippines is still a democracy, and whether we like it or not, Mocha Uson can run for the Senate is she wishes.
This was former Albay Rep. Grex Lagman’s reminder to people on Facebook after news broke that Uson— a former sexy dancer turned hyperpartisan social media figure turned palace official— will be included in the PDP-Laban’s 2019 Senate slate.
Lagman says Uson meets the qualifications to become an official senatorial candidate.
But the electorate is not completely powerless, he points out.
They can campaign for her and vote for her, or campaign against her and ditch her in the polls.
It’s that simple.
“Mocha Uson has all the right to run for senator of the Republic of the Philippines. She is eligible under the Constitution and the Omnibus Election Code. But the electorate also has the right to do either of two things: 1. Actively campaign for Mocha and vote for her. Or 2. Actively campaign against her and reject her in the polls. Ganito lang naman ka-simple.We’re still a democracy. These are the ground rules. Let the people decide. #Democrazy,” he posted.
