Albay suspends classes due to tropical depression Salome

Classes in all levels in Albay have been suspended by the provincial government due to tropical depression Salome.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Albay issued the said order after the low pressure area has developed into tropical depression. The province was placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1.

The PDRRMC orders early dismissal of classes in all levels and early decampment of the on-going Provincial Jamboreette in Lidong, Sto. Domingo, Albay.

It also prohibits sailing for all types of seacrafts and crossing on swollen rivers and avoidance of artificial pool of waters.

Residents along river system and steep slope were also told to pre-identify safer grounds and facilities for possible evacuation in case of flood and landslide evacuation for disaster avoidance.

And all local risk reduction units are advised to be on heightened alert in their area of jurisdictions and to monitor status of the tropical depression Salome.
