Chinese consultants brief PH’s officials on PNR Bicol Express’ design
China Railway Design Corp. officers recently briefed Philippine officials on the design of the Philippine National Railway (PNR) Bicol Express.
Present during the briefing were DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia and BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon.
The 581-kilometer PNR Bicol Express, also known as the South Long Haul project, seeks to connect Manila and Bicol Region.
“The railway will connect cities, international seaports, and economic zones, allowing for faster transportation of passengers and freight,” according administration’s Build Build Build.
The Transportation department said that the train line “is expected to service 400,000 passengers in its opening year.”
With the new train line, it will only take six hours to travel from Manila to Bicol. The PNR Bicol Express is targted to be finished by 2022.
