Just in: Ex Sorsogon gov convicted for graft over fertilizer fund scam
The Sandiganbayan first division has convicted former Sorsogon gov Raul Lee for four counts of graft charges over the P728 million fertilizer fund scam in 2004.
According to an Inquirer report, the Sandiganbayan sentenced Lee to six to ten years imprisonment for every count of graft charge for purchasing overpriced fertilizers worth P3.2 million.
Lee faces two counts of graft for violation of sec 3 of the Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act for favorable transactions to Feshan Philippines without public bidding and another two counts for entering into a contract “disadvantageous to the government,” the Inquirer said.
Also charged was the province’s former provincial accountant Raul Hernandez who was reported dead prior to the conviction.
Raul Lee, whose other name on Facebook is “Ama kan Sorsogon (Father of Sorsogon),” has been inactive in social media.
His son with current Sorsogon City Mayor Sally Lee is Robert “Bobet Lee” Rodrigueza, the current Sorsogon governor.
