PDEA didn’t say that! Lapeña disowns report clearing Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua in narco list

Aug 16, 2017 @ 20:10

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isidro Lapeña has disputed a tabloid report claiming Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua is not on the administration’s list of politikos allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

Quoting Lapeña, Cua told a Remate reporter that his name was not on the so-called “narco list” in the possession of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Lapeña, however, distanced himself and the PDEA from Cua’s claims.

“Whatever he said did not come from PDEA. We are not authorized to say so,” he told reporters recently.

Dangerous Drugs Board chairman Dionisio Santiago earlier confirmed Cua’s involvement in the narcotics trade in the Bicol region. He said the President is also likely aware of the governor’s illicit business.

Cua’s name has been linked in the operations of the mega shabu laboratory in Virac that the Philippine National Police raided in November 2016.
