Jai ho! Albay councilor goes to India as Asean Ambassador
A Tabaco councilor is currently in India to represent the Philippines in the first India-Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit.
Sheina Marie Onrubia is one of the ten Filipino youths selected by the National Youth Commission to represent the country in Bhopal, India from Aug 14 to 19, and interact with other 100 delegates from India and Southeast Asia.
In her Facebook account, the young councilor shared how the City Government of Tabaco localizes the attainment of the 17 Sustainable Development goals.
According to the Embassy of India, the event, spearheaded by the Indian Foundation and themed “Shared values, common destiny,” serves as a platform for young leaders from the Asean and India to build contacts and create institutional cooperation among the India and the Asean region.
Last Monday, India celebrated its 70th independence day and its 25 years of partnership with the Asean.
Aside from being a councilor, Onrubia also pastors the Destiny Church in Albay and mentors the youth through the Rescue Kabataan movement.
Tabaco, Albay has already adopted Rescue Kabataan (Save the youth) as one of its youth development programs.
