Naga City investment plan doubles to P2.2B – VM Nelson Legacion
The Naga Investment Plan in 2018 or the official list of projects to be approved by the city council has reached PHP2.2 billion in cost, said Naga City Vice Mayor Nelson Legacion.
“The investment plan budget is way above the projected budget of the LGU (local government unit) in 2018 which was P1.2 billion,” Legacion said in an interview Wednesday.
Legacion said the Naga Investment Plan includes the construction of more road sand public utility jeepney terminals; establishment of an export processing zone; and streetlight modernization.
A new cemetery anda circumferential road from the villages of Calauag to San Felipe are among the infrastructure projects to be implemented next year.
Legacion said the city government would not impose new taxes but would source funds from national government agencies (NGAs) like the Department of Public Works and Highways and Department of Agriculture.
Next year, Legacion saod the city government would to start the construction of an east-bound terminal for jeepneys and vans which has an area of 3,000 square meters.
He said Robinsons Mall has offered to designate a terminal for jeepneys inside the compound but the area is small because the city needs at least half a hectare.
The east-bound terminal would service jeepneys and vans going to Partido, Rinconada and Albay.
Legacion said new and wider roads would be built in Del Rosario, Cararayan and San Isidro road going to Haciendas de Naga where the 25-hectare proposed export processing zone would be located.
“Fuji, a manufacturer of spare parts of vehicles, will be the first investor in the proposed export processing zone which will recruit hundreds of employees,” said Legacion. (Juan Escandor Jr./PNA)
