Albay BM Imperial joins ‘pinangat’ celebration

For those who don’t know, the native Bicolano dish “pinangat” is a big deal.

Known as “laing” to Manileños, the beloved pinangat is celebrated with its own festival, as what can be seen on Albay Board Member Howard Sim Pem Imperial’s Facebook post.

According to Imperial, the festival is a “long running festival celebrated year on year in the province of Albay, Municipality of Camalig.”

Also attending the important local event were his fellow Albay politikos Mayor Ding Baldo, Vice Mayor Caloy Baldo, Congressman Joey Salceda, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Albay and the Sangguniang Bayan of Camalig.

Incidentally, pinangat recently made international news when it ranked 22nd on the list of 50 Top Street Foods in the world.
